Winners are grinners! The end of season social get together and prize giving for the Sussex Inlet & Basin Yacht Club was held last Saturday 20th May. Hosted once again at the Sussex Bowlo it was a chance for club members, family and friends to come together and celebrate another successful year on the water.
Event organisers Steve and Jan once again pulled out all the stops with great raffle prizes and some fantastic “Unofficial” sailing trophies and a big thank you to club member Ken Maloney for providing custom made sailing bags for all boats. As well as the perpetual trophies, all of this year’s winners received gift vouchers from our two fantastic club sponsors – Ocean and Earth and Bosun’s Wholesale.
With the beautiful Basin as our playground there are no real losers in our club, but in recognition of some good competitive sailing, here are the boats and crews that took home the silverware this year.
The midweek series was sadly a little low on numbers this year with a number of regulars having other commitments, but those that did make it out on Thursday’s had some good tussles.

The weekend racing saw some very close results, with the Inside course series finishing with four boats tied on points, and being decided on a 5 result countback. Special mention to Tingaround who sadly just missed out after losing their mast part way through the season but were still in contention on points right until the end!
